Just a few hours ago, Google launched their Google App Marketplace with over 50 vendors ready to serve up a host of applications that integrate directly with Google services.
A bold move for sure, but one that may have a larger impact on Android than at first glance.
Obviously the App Marketplace targets the small to medium sized business model.

Google Street View has been criticised for revealing the loacation of the SAS's secret headquarters, which has previously been left off all maps for security reasons.
Using the service, the entrance to the base can be identified, and a full 360-degree tour can be taken of its perimeter.
The base was included during part of its extension to 95 per cent of Britain's roads.

Google this week took another step toward getting its own Android-based handset, the Nexus One, on as many U.S. carriers as possible.
Originally released on the T-Mobile network, the device was added to AT&T next, and then Verizon.
Sprint said this week that it will become the fourth major carrier to support the Nexus One — which should help boost the lower-than-expected sales numbers of what many feel is the best Android phone on the market.

While industry watchers feel YouTube and Viacom each scored points, YouTube's evolution into a recognizable brand may give it the upper-hand, said Eric Goldman, associate professor at Santa Clara University School of Law and director of the High Tech Law Institute.
"The longer this case goes the more benefit YouTube gets," Goldman told eWEEK.
"In 2006, a judge might not have heard of YouTube, let alone used it. By 2010, a lot of judges know YouTube before it even gets into their court room. I'm guessing

Back in October 2006, a few days before Google acquired YouTube, I wrote a post called YouTube is wildy profitable, no doubts about it , it was probably the first I published on this blog that got a lot of attention.
Anyway, I had no proof that YouTube was actually profitable or for that matter generating material revenues, but the point was: it could be in a very strong state despite the alleged hosting fees, which we now know through peering arrangements can be contained.
However, with Viacom and Goog

In the first series of comprehensive performance tests comparing Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Internet Explorer 9 technical preview, released last week, to stable Web browsers in current use today, Betanews confirmed superb speed gains by the IE9 chassis in specific categories.
Not everything in the new IE9 was faster than IE8, but in the computational department, the development team's Chakra JavaScript engine shows much-needed gains.
In anticipation of IE9, Betanews has been developing a radically impro

Organizers of the Farmington bid for Google's proposed gigabit-per-second Internet network are hoping to reach a broader audience by taking the pitch to the Animas Valley Mall.
Proponents of the project will be at the mall's center court today and Sunday offering anyone interested in the project a chance to film a video telling Google why it should consider Farmington when selecting communities to establish an experimental gigabit-per-second fiberline Internet connection.

The city is applying to host a test site of Google's experimental ultra-high-speed home Internet network.
City officials say Fort Collins is a "natural fit" for Google's network due to its high concentration of high-tech companies and academic prowess.
The network would provide speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second, 50 to 100 times faster than generally available commercial home Internet speeds.
Network providers are making real progress to expand and improve high-speed Internet access, but there's still more to be done. We don't think we have all the answers - but through our trial, we hope to make a meaningful contribution to the shared goal of delivering faster and better Internet for everyone. -Google
